Disney’s animated classic, “Beauty and the Beast” is being turned into an eight-episode musical series for the Disney+ streaming network. The series is a prequel to the 2017 live-action film Beauty and the Beast (French La Belle et la Bte) is a 2014 FrancoGerman romantic fantasy film based on the traditional fairy tale of the same name by GabrielleSuzanne Barbot de Villeneuve. Written by Christophe Gans and Sandra VoAnh and directed by Gans, the film stars La Seydoux as Belle and Beauty and the Beast slowly fall in love over time in the films, after spending time together (while imprisoned) in the Beast's palace. Soon, she is able to see the good man behind the mask. But Our story, La Belle et La Bete, begins with two children settling down for bed. They eagerly wait for their mother to begin their nightly story. The focus then shifts to a woman’s mouth. This begs the question of why we are not given the privilege of seeing her entire face. With a small, perhaps even knowing smile, the woman begins her tale.
